Biography

I’m an algebraic topologist working at Kungliga Tekniska Högskolan (KTH) in Stockholm. Previously, I’ve worked in the same racket in Amsterdam and Münster; I got my PhD at MIT and studied in Oxford and Bonn.

I spend most of my days doing research, teaching, and organizing things at the department and outside.

At Stockholm, we’re collaborating with Stockholms universitet (SU) in all matters research and graduate teaching. Since June 2024, I am co-director of the joint (KTH/SU) Master’s program in math. Before, I have been director of the PhD program in math for seven years.

What’s recent

• The Young Topologists meeting 2025 took place June 23-27, 2025. Thanks to our awesome PhD students and postdocs for the perfect organization.
• I have been appointed director of the joint (KTH/SU) Master’s program in mathematics in June 2024. After seven years of director of the PhD program, I’m looking forward to this new challenge!
• My new PhD student Elmo Vuorenmaa started August 2022.
• I co-organized a summer school Chromatic homotopy theory and friends at the Mittag-Leffler institute June 7-10, 2022.
• I co-organized a program on Higher algebraic structures in algebra, topology and geometry at the Mittag-Leffler institute January 10–April 29, 2022.
