Open Positions

I am always looking for excellent PhD students and Post-docs. My general research interests are described on the research page. To get a first impression, please have a look at my publications and theses of the PhD students who I have (co-) supervised previously.

The excellent research environment at the Information Science and Engineering Department promotes creativity and allows a lot of flexibility so that people can work in a way that fits best to them. The engagement is very high and the cooperative setting creates a positive sense of belonging and connectedness. In 2015 Electrical Engineering at KTH is ranked 16th in the world and 5th in Europe. Our graduates have in general attractive career opportunities in academia and industry. The staff at the Information Science and Engineering department is multicultural, the social interaction is very friendly, and the working language is English. The department closely collaborates with other research groups, in particular within ACCESS, national and international projects and research collaborations.

PhD students

Being employed as a doctoral student at the School of Electrical Engineering (EES) at KTH is very attractive. PhD students are enrolled in an internationally respected doctoral program. In particular, the strategic research area ICT TNG and ACCESS center complement the excellent program with an ACCESS distinguished lecture series inviting world-famous speakers, additional invited lectures, or bi-weekly internal seminar given by ACCESS researchers. Moreover, PhD students at KTH are paid a good salary and have many opportunities to participate at conferences and other relevant events. In particular we aim to send our PhD students for a six month research visit to an internationally well respected researcher/research group in the field.

Doing a PhD with me requires very good analytical skills, good linguistic skills, and a strong motivation to do a PhD. A solid mathematical background is a prerequisite and subject related knowledge (e.g. communication or information theory) are good to have, but can also be learned during the PhD studies. As your PhD supervisor I will be highly committed to help you to be successful. If you are interested, then please feel free to send me an E-mail including your CV and transcripts. Additionally, point explicitly on evidences which you believe show that you have the required competences listed above. Please make sure to use the subject “Prospective PhD candidate” so that I can differentiate your mail from others.

For students from KTH it is a very good idea to do a master thesis project with me before so that we both can see if we have common interests.

Post-doctoral Researcher (Post-doc)

The Information Science and Engineering Department is regularly enriched by excellent post-doctoral researcher. We are always interested to strengthen and expand our research profile with new competences, but also to get qualified support in research project work. Open positions always depend on the current funding situation which also define the concrete requirements. In general we expect candidates which have achieved an excellent PhD showing high scientific quality and productivity. Please feel free to contact me if you are interested and you feel that your research would fit to my research profile. Please make sure to use the subject “Prospective Post-doc candidate” in your E-mail and please attach your most interesting publication(s). The SRA ICT-TNG offered in the past post-doc grants for SRA faculties based on a competitive selection process. The submission deadline is usually in late autumn for which I am looking for excellent candidates that I can forward. If you are an interesting candidate, then I can also support you to obtain own funding from national or international sources (German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), DFG Research Fellowships, International postdoc VR, EU etc).
