SWARM

SWARM - Smart and Widely distributed Appliances for Renewable energy Management
SWARM aims to predict the electrical consumption and production at the scale of mobile devices (e-vehicles), households and microgrids. The main goal is to optimise the energy consumption/production while keeping the network stable. This will be done through the development and marketing of a “Smart Energy Management Appliance” (SEMA). A SEMA will be associated to each prosumer (producer and/or consumer) and will act on its behalf. Different types of SEMAs can be envisaged: m-SEMA for mobile devices (e-vehicles), p-SEMA for personal households and c-SEMA for communities and microgrids. The SEMA must learn and anticipate local (mobile device or household) and global (microgrid) consumption/production. An accurate forecast of consumption/production is necessary for ensuring reliable and stable grid operations. Consequently, this must be based on the development of suitable algorithms for appropriate distributed learning and prediction across the SEMA network.
