Electronic Infrastructure Feature[1]

"When combined, these six principles point to a total transformation, not merely in the way we send messages to one another, but in the way we think, how we see ourselves in the world, and therefore, where we stand in relationship to out various governments. Put together, they will make it impossible for governments - or their revolutionary opponents - to manage ideas, imagery, data, information, or knowledge as they once did."

Convertibility is very important for integrating applications and environments
(e.g., using text speech,
speech text,
e-mail pager,
German English, ... )
allows new applications and new users.

Providing access to information where ever a user is and when ever they want it is one of the prime motivations for wireless access (i.e., they don't have to be in a special place or be plugged in to access this information and it can happen asynchronously - when there is a need for interaction - rather than only limited to special times and places).
