Abstract:

Recently Batyrev and Nill conjectured that certain polytopes with no interior points should have the structure of Cayley polytopes. I will describe the problem, combinatorially and geometrically, and present (an idea of) the proof for smooth polytopes. This talk is based on joint work with A. Dickenstein and R. Piene.
