After one minute, Västerås were awarded a penalty shot. Salomatin did everything wrong; he dropped the puck a few meters from the goal, and it came sliding slowly towards Östlund, who had his mind somewhere completely different and let the puck in.

If Östlund had his mind somewhere else, that is not what one can say about Erik Bergström, the VIK goalie. Altogether he saved five or six times alone with the DIF forwards. Fredrik Lindqvist, Djurgården's best player, was the worst misser - three times.

The referee had a bad game (as usual! I have no idea why Börje is allowed to continue to be an Elitserien referee). This gave DIF three power plays in a row in the middle of the second period. Now Västerås showed very good boxplay, and the few shots were easily deflected by the wall Bergström.

Instead, it was Västerås' Lööf, Andersson and Öberg that in a flashing minute scored 3-2 and 4-2. The national team keeper Östlund now looked quite much like a Swiss cheese.

When Lindqvist scored the 4-3 goal in the last minute of the second period, you prepared yourself for a thrilling last period. However, at least I never had the feeling that Djurgården were close. VIK played smart hockey and took few risks, and the 5-3 goal settled the game.

Game rating (1-5): 3

Best goalie: Erik Bergström, VIK
Best defender: Paul Andersson, VIK
Best forward: Johan Thornberg, VIK
