Never in the about ten matches with Leksand and DIF that I have watched, have Leksand played this good. In the first and second periods there was only one team on the ice. There was also a goalkeeper named Thomas Östlund and thanks to him, Djurgården weren't humiliated as far as the result is concerned.
The first forty minutes were spent almost entirely on Djurgården's territory. However, the first real chance to score was given to DIF's Anders Huusko. After a misunderstanding between two LIF forwards, he was alone with Johan Hedberg, who made a good save. That was Djurgården's only chance in two periods.
The oldies in Leksand - Anders Carlsson, Jonas Bergqvist and Per-Erik Eklund - really showed that they are still going strong. Eklund's shot pass to Lodin before the 2-0 goal was magnificent, and Carlsson's 4-1 goal, which settled the game, was a spectacular volley from about one meter above the ice.
Espen Knutsen's injury did a lot of harm to the DIF offence. The outstanding formation with Knutsen, Erickson and Lindqvist was very dull with Patrik Kjellberg replacing Knutsen. Instead the hard-work-no-glamour players Anders Huusko and Magnus Jansson were the best forwards. Jens Öhling also played well. Will that man never quit playing?
