It was easy to tell that the two teams didn't love each other. Djurgården, encouraged by the crowd, were out for revenge for Håkan Loob's attack on Patrik Hofbauer in the first quarter final in Karlstad. Whenever they had a chance, an FBK-player was jammed into the board.
As usual, the damned thing scored anyway. Djurgården had just survived a 3-5 boxplay he put the puck in the net. Why is it that Loob has to score everytime against DIF? (OK, I know he scores everytime against everybody...) A minute later, however, the old hero Janne Viktorsson scored the equalizer on a pass from Erik Huusko. These two and Putte Erickson were the best in a home team that suffered from Per Eklund's and Fredrik Lindqvist's injuries.
When the third period began, the score was 1-2, and Färjestad played defensively to keep the lead. They did this very efficiently, and Djurgården hardly ever crossed the blue line for about seven minutes. When Erickson finally scored 2-2, though, DIF took over and put hard pressure on Marcus Ketterer trying to score the winner. Of course the ever-ugly Håkan Loob managed to snatch the puck in the middle of the pressure and start a contra-attack that ended with Jonas Höglund putting the puck in the net.
Now Djurgården showed some strength that they have successfully hidden throughout the season. They actually fought even harder and after only about half a minute, the score was 3-3, thanks to the perpetuum mobile Erik Huusko. The finest hockey arena in Sweden (Johanneshovs Isstadion, as there was some jumping and running going on in the Globe) had its roof blown off.
Everyone (at least I) thought that DIF would win in the overtime, as they had played very good in the end of the third period. Clearly only one thing could happen. After six minutes Prochorov scored 3-4. FBK are now fast runners-up on my list of teams I hate. They still haven't defeated AIK and Malmö IF, but they're closing up.
