Not following normal procedures, Djurgården played very well in the beginning. Erik Bergström, who replaced Mats Ytter in the VIK goal, was the only Västerås player on the ice, it seemed. He was a good one, though, and the score was 0-0 after the first period.

VIK came back into the game in the second period, but DIF's keeper Patrik Hofbauer also had a great game. He has been critizised a lot in the media, but in this match he really showed that he can replace Thomas Östlund.

The first goal was scored by Magnus Jansson on a great pass from Patrik Kjellberg. After this, DIF took control again, and the 2-0 goal came after beautiful play from the best forwards: Knutsen, Erickson and Lindqvist.

Västerås had some chances to come back in the last period, but Hofbauer was steady as a rock, and instead Patrik Kjellberg managed to score 3-0 when DIF had one man in the penalty box.

The 3-1 goal came too late for Västerås, but you could see that Patrik Hofbauer was very disappointed. His had obviously been aiming not to let any pucks slip through, and he had definately deserved that.

In the last minute VIK played without their goalie, and this ended up the same way as usual; with a goal for the other team. Per Eklund was the scorer.

Game rating (1-5): 3

Best goalie: Patrik Hofbauer, DIF
Best defender: Mikael Magnusson, DIF
