Kenneth Johansson, who (for some reason) replaced Boo Ahl as the Hv goalkeeper was in action right from the start. Djurgården had at least four major chances before Hv
even managed to get out of their own zone (except for several icing shots). Kenneth,
however, acted like a living wall and stopped everything that was heading for the goal, including players.
After the explosive DIF start, Hv came back into the game. They were a lot more efficient than DIF and scored two goals on their three chances. The first came after a bad deflection from Osten, the Djurgården keeper, on an easy shot.
When the second period started, you began to wonder what the players really drink between the periods... DIF played absolutely marvellous offensive hockey, and scored three goals in six minutes (and they should have scored three more).
After 15 minutes of the second period came the highlight of the match. Espen Knutsen
stole the puck from a Hv forward, made two defenders skate up on the terraces with
a superb shot fake, and waited some ten minutes for the goalie to get down before he
put the puck in the net. Brilliant!
The third period looked much like the first, except that Kenneth Johansson was no longer a living wall. Hv had a few chances, but Osten played very well, so they scored
only one goal, by Nurminen.
If you keep in mind that Hv71 are the Swedish champions, you must be very impressed
by Djurgården. I haven't seen them play this good (at least in the second period) for a LONG time. Go on like this, DIF, and the championship is yours!
