Djurgården's domination was total. In the first period, AIK almost never crossed their own blue line. This, however, does not mean that DIF played well. The DIF forwards' efficiency was extremely low, much because of the AIK keeper Mikael Nilsson. He had a marvellous game. To me it seems a little strange that all keepers make the game of their lives against DIF... Perhaps Djurgården's forwards make the opposing keepers look good?
It took more than two periods for DIF to manage to get through Mikael Nilsson. Strangely enough, the goal came ten seconds after AIK's first chance to score. It was the notorious goalscorer Per Eklund who scored on a pass from the player of the match, Putte Erickson.
After this, the solid AIK defence finally fell apart, and DIF could without much effort score twice more and win the game.
The third goal was a beauty. By waiting, waiting and waiting, Patrik Erickson made Mikael Nilsson go down before the puck was put into the net. At the same time, a riot was taking place on the AIK supporters' section. The cops that had gone in to arrest a bastard who was shooting fireworks, were attacked by several more bastards.
For us DIF supporters, this was a great game. Complete destruction of the team we love to hate on the ice, while we outnumbered and outsang their fans (and watched them making complete fools of themselves) on the terrace.
