Build Italic Text Photoshop 4.0 allowed you to create bold and italic text directly from the text dialog box, even if you didn't have the bold and italic versions of a font. Many designers were surprised to learn that this feature was removed from Photoshop 5.0. Fortunately, there are workarounds to create italic text in any font. Here's how to create italic text: 1. Create text as you normally would in the Type Tool. 2. Select Layer/Type/Render Layer. 3. Select Edit/Transform/Numeric. 4. In the Skew area of the dialog box, enter -20 in Horizontal and leave Vertical 0. 5. Click OK to slant your text at an italic angle.
