Mydak
This country has a glorious history but the high ambitions of the rulers made them involved in a foolish war for 2000 years ago. They tried to trick the mighty Ardezia to attack Aldarica to be able to expand Mydak in the confusion but the war was disasterous for Mydak. Aldarica knew about Mydak's plans and retreated from their fleet into Mydak. Mydak's army was badly deployed to withstand an attack from the north and lost. Aldarica left evidence of Mydak's involvment and retreated back towards their border in south. Ardezia entered Mydak and with their normal methodical they brought Mydak's goverment down when they discovered the evidence of Mydak's role in the war. Mydak is since then a security zone guarded by the Ardezia and all gathering off central goverment prevented by the treat of the Ardezian army.
Most citys of Mydak have a small council that leads them and keeps the laws. These councils normally got great support since the alternative is the hard laws of Ardezia. Mydak's nobles wouldn't loss much with Ardezia laws but common people have much to win in avoiding Ardezia's intervention and are known to gather and kill somebody who wants to drive off Ardezia. Mydak has no regualar army but their fame from the second great war and their skill when they join other countrys armys makes even the fearless hillmans of Maxadi and Wyntox avoid them in battle when possible.
Mydak is for most purposes neutral and is therefor often the place where people meet when they got peace negotations. The country got many weapon guilds that can provide protection when neaded for these occasions and is also popular among rich young men that wants to adventure. They like the country since it is fairly safe but still got plenty of oppertunitys to learn the hard art of beeing an adventurer. In many countrys it is expected that you spend some years in Mydak to gain some experience if you are of noble birth. This have of course created guilds that offer a way out from this by giving the noble who got the neaded money a more easy way of spending the time.
