The vibrant SF downtown, is mainly concentrated around Market Street in the middle of all these skyscrapers and surrounded by Victorian style houses standing in the hillsides.

SF has of course a famous Chinatown. For us mainly famous for the most spicy dish we ever eaten. (Who is that in the yellow jacket?)

There were some heavy climbs up to the famous viewpoint...

Telegraph Hill, where a 360 degree view could be seen over the city from a tower. Here you can see Alcatraz island in the background. (The yellow jacket, again?)

The Victorian houses from above, Russian Hill and far away the Golden Gate Bridge.

Going down again one realises that on the other side is another HILL :-(Russian Hill). This one features...

...the most winding road in the world? "Everyday is a winding road"/Sheryl Crow.

But the San Francisco cable cars, propelled by grabbing on to a continously pulling wire under the street (surely worthy of an engineering award!), can take you around the city.

For example to Fishermans Wharf, the tourism district, where... (The yellow jacket, again!!!)

...these fellows where basking in the sunlight or...

...fighting for the best seats in the house, to look at the stupid humanoids.
