The road to the west. A few hours ride (with a Toyota) and we arrive at;

The Spoetzl Brewery in Shiner, Texas. This is where the favourite beer of KTH-students at UH is brewed - Shiner Bock.

And after a (free) tour through the brewery, there was some (free!) tasting of the four different kinds of beers brewed with the Shiner tradition; Honey Wheat, Winter Ale, Bock and Blonde.

Going furhter to the west the landscape changed a little bit. Cactuses started to appear along the road side and...

... oil riggs.

Then we arrived at the Natural Bridge Caverns - a large cave system takeing its name from this natural bridge over the entrance to the system.

Taking a tour down into the cave system, one spectacular cave after another revealed itself before our eyes. The stalaktites and stalagmites (mind my spelling!) had formed enormous contructs over thousands of years and are really impossible to reproduce on pictures.

This is called the Kings Throne, one can imagine why...

This is from the Hall of The Mountain King. A "wood" of these constructs.

Later in San Antonio we visited the Fort Alamo, an important place in the American history. Do you know why?

After a romantic river walk in the beautyfull and vibrant San Antonio, the evening was spent above 100 meters up in the air, dining at a restaurant sited up in a tower, looking out over San Antonio by night.
