Urko Serrano

I am a Software Engineer of Distributed Systems at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH). Currently, I am working on a project called Smoothlink, a web-based framework for cross-device interaction in distributed content-centric networking. The project was designed during my master's thesis at the Telecommunication Systems Laboratory (TSLab), where my supervisor was Flutra Osmani.

Research

My main research interests are web technologies, live streaming over peer-to-peer networks, distributed environments and cross-device interaction in ubiquitous computing.

Since I released Smoothlink as a fully FOSS JavaScript-based implementation, I am also involved in additional features added to Swift, a content-centric transport protocol written in C++ as part of the P2P-Next project.

On the other hand, I collaborate as a Researcher Engineer in the GLORIA European project designing a free and open source solutions to webcast astronomical events for a mass audience. The project is coordinated by Technical University of Madrid and funded under the European Union's Seventh Framework Programme.

During my work as Research Assistant at Technical University of Madrid, I was focused on a cross-platform prototype for peer-to-peer live streaming written in Python named Arguscast.
